Title: Pro Bono Law Clerk Intern

Position Type: Unpaid volunteer position. 10–15 hours per week commitment.

Location: Flexible work environment with hybrid & in-office options; the position does not require the volunteer to be based in St. Paul.

Introduction: The Pro Bono Law Clerk/Intern will support the Pro Bono Department in handling naturalization and DACA renewal cases. Working under the supervision of a licensed attorney, the clerk/intern will assist with legal research, presentations, case management, and client communications related to pro bono projects

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Screen pro bono cases such as naturalization and DACA renewal applicants.
  • Assist with preparing training and presentations.
  • Communicate with clients to gather information, request documents, and provide case updates.
  • Assist attorneys and accredited representatives in preparing clients for interviews

 

Qualifications | Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Current J.D. candidate or LL.M. student.
  • Strong interest in immigration law.
  • Excellent legal research skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in a second language, such as Spanish, Somali, Hmong, Amharic, Oromo, or Karen, is preferred.
