Title: Development & Communications Intern or Volunteer

Position Type: Unpaid volunteer position. 10–15 hours per week commitment.

Location: Flexible work environment with hybrid & in-office options; may require in-person interactions based out of Twin Cities Metro Area.

Introduction: Development and Communications (Dev-Comm) Volunteers play a vital role in supporting ILCM’s fundraising and outreach efforts in highlighting our organization’s impact to our immigrant and refugee community as well as inspiring donor and community engagement. This role is flexible and designed to empower volunteers to choose how they contribute, based on their availability and interests.

Primary Responsibilities

Donor and Event Support:

  • Help draft donor communications such as emails or letters.
  • Provide data entry support for donations in our database.
  • Assist in creating event materials.
  • Collaborate with our Development Coordinator in donor stewardship.

Social Media and Outreach Coordination:

  • Create and publish engaging ILCM stories across our social media platforms.
  • Monitor presentation requests from community members.
  • Prepare outreach materials such as fliers, brochures, and postcards; may include printing, cutting, folding, and other similar office tasks.
  • Collaborate with our Communications Manager in creating outreach materials that align with ILCM’s values and core messaging.

Grant Writing:

  • Collaborate with our Grants Officer in drafting grant appeals

Qualifications | Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
